Unfortunately, our intended layover in Montreal evolved into an overnight stay, since we were unable to reach Cairo or Luxor before our flight was scheduled to land at midnight. It wasn’t until we returned to YUL for an overnight stay that we had opportunity to see this brewery, which we had missed when we initially arrived in the city.
Instead of a beer, we ordered two mimosas to start, and then split their poutine meal.
Archibald’s interior design is lovely, however we were sat in a different section outside the fireplace area, which was disappointing.

At the airport, there is a great new Lebanese restaurant where you can have a fast supper. Falafels are one of my favorite Middle Eastern foods. Great alternative for vegans.
Restaurant Focaccio
Address: 490 Avenue Michel-Jasmin Dorval, QC H9P 1C3

Phone: (514) 420-0075
I was a little wary at first; after all, motels near an airport complex? In general, the cuisine and dining options in these kinds of locales are mediocre at best. BUT! I’m sorry.
It’s a DREAM COME TRUE! We were greeted by a driver who was making a delivery when he picked us up from our hotel and drove us to the restaurant! He was quite courteous, pleasant, and, most importantly, a lot of fun.
It’s time for dinner at the restaurant now. Both the service and the meal were excellent. We had a nice bottle of wine on hand. You won’t be disappointed with the food at this establishment. It was the perfect way to round off our journey. You’re welcome.
Restaurant Houston Steaks et Cotes Levees
Address: Aeroport Trudeau Montreal US Departures Side Dorval, QC
The food here is really OK, but the service was excellent. It was only because of the proximity of the restaurant to our boarding gate at the Trudeau Airport that we decided to stop here for lunch. Considering that we were only here for airport food, I didn’t hold out much hope.
Definitely over-fried, the chicken tenders and potatoes were quite difficult to eat. The fries were soggy and stale. It’s a good thing they have catchup available.
The salad with salmon and spinach was alright. As a result of the salmon being overcooked, it was also difficult to consume. However, the salad dressing was delicious.
Then then, this was just a one time event. An important piece of advise for aspiring travelers: don’t fly hungry.

Since I’ve been going here for so long, I’ve gotten to know the owners and their children. The greatest people and cuisine in Dorval, hands down. People I knew as a kid who’d moved away would come visit me simply so I could eat their meals. You must try the Souvlaki Plate.

It’s great to work with such a kind and helpful team. This is a high-end establishment, yet it doesn’t feel snobby.
I ended up having two meals at the hotel because I was sleeping there. Both occasions, the customer service was excellent.
It was a good start to the day. A few alternatives were available, but I decided to go with the buffet. There wasn’t a lot of variety, but it was enough. Eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, and other hot dishes are available. Cold meats and bread are also available. Of course, there will be fresh juice and coffee.
The meal itself was excellent. My burger came with fries and poutine on top.
For those staying at the hotel, this is a great alternative.
UBar Resto Bar

Because of the interior design, I came here during a two-hour layover at Montreal Airport (YUL). Had a basic Caesar salad that was excellent. Vaccination is required to dine here, but the service was fine and the NFL game was playing to keep us entertained.

I had no idea it had changed its name; I recall an old buffet here many years ago. Finally gave it a go, and I’m so glad I did! Dinner for two is $38 and includes two soups, two appetizers, two main meals, rice, and a vegetable side dish. ”
There was a lot of shrimp in the Shrimp Toast, making it one of the greatest I’ve ever eaten (but only 4 pieces).
All three dishes were excellent: chicken & peanut, beef & broccoli. There was a large shrimp, calamari, muscle, and other seafood in the Tom Yum soup. Likewise, the Hot & Sour was excellent.
I’m sure I’ll go returning, as this is now my #1 pick for Chinese takeout in the area.

It was delicious, and the pricing were reasonable. Even the chef himself came out to talk to us about the cuisine (and there was so much love and passion for what he does, obviously).
Although this restaurant is housed in a strip mall, the food and service were excellent.
