18 Essential Montreal Microbreweries – Updated 2022
With over 10 million people living in the greater Montreal area, there are no shortage of local breweries here.
If you love beer, then this is definitely a list you’ll want to read. This list, compiled by my friend, John Boulay, lists 18 microbreweries in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
I’ve made some minor edits to the list and added a few comments. If you’re in Montreal, make sure to check these places out!

This microbrewery in Ahuntsic, Maine, is more lush and colorful than its name suggests, thanks to its murals, plants, and eclectic furnishings.
The eleven beers on tap at Silo include a coconut milk porter, an oat-pepper-ginger saison, and a guava IPA, but the brewery also excels at a basic pilsner style. Finger foods and grilled cheese are the only options on the menu.
2. Etoh Brasserie
Address: 8100 St-Denis, Montreal, QC H2P 2G6, Canada
Phone: (514) 508-9894

Near the Jarry metro station, the Villeray location serves cold Quebec beers on draft (as well as sample flights and bottles to take home) and bar snacks in a bright and airy setting. In addition to beer, Etoh also brews wine and cider.
3. Mellön Brasserie
Address: 7141 Rue Saint-André, Montréal, QC H2S 2L3, Canada

Mellön joins a crowded field of great brewers in La Petite Patrie, and its changing range of seven or eight beers is already creating a stir in the neighborhood.
The 80-seat taproom has a colorful ambiance that was inspired by industrial microbreweries in Toronto and Brooklyn, and you’ll generally see a couple of pale ales and lagers, a sour, maybe a kölsch.
4. Brasserie Harricana
Address: 95 Jean-Talon Ouest, Montreal, QC H2R 2W8, Canada
Phone: (514) 303-3039
Website: Visit Website
To our knowledge, Harricana’s Flux Capacitor draft system, which regulates the temperature and carbonation of each draft line in a futuristic manner, is the first of its kind in Montreal (and Canada).
From midday to midnight, the bar-restaurant serves up a selection of craft beers (and even sodas and kombucha), as well as gourmet Quebec comfort food (though not on Sundays).
5. Isle de Garde
Address: 1039 rue Beaubien Est, Montreal, QC H2S 1T3, Canada

In addition to a well-curated beer list and knowledgeable staff, this chic restaurant on Beaubien has become known for specialties like a 60-day aged burger (only available on Thursdays) and lobster ravioli.
There is a lot of support from them for the lagers-over-IPA trend as well.

In addition to its own beers, the unusual co-op-owned Mabrasserie also brews those of its members: Isle de Garde, Boswell, Mannanova, Broue Pub Brouhaha, and noir et blanche.
In addition to offering 32 beers on tap, the Rosemont tasting room features a nice terrace with picnic tables (including flights). Additionally, there’s a bottle shop on site where you may pick up bottles to take home with you.

An imperial stout brewed with milk and coffee known as Péché Mortel can only be found on draft in Laurier’s first brewery, complete with an inviting street terrace.

This lively Plateau pub’s beer production is done with Gaspésien flair (the brewery’s flagship is located not far from the enormous Percé rock). To get the whole experience, sample their award-winning American Brown Ale while it’s still available.

While Réservoir has long been a Plateau favorite, its recent takeover by the team behind the now-defunct Mile End eatery Hôtel Herman gave it a major boost.
You may expect to find a pilsner and a couple IPAs, as well as more experimental brews such as rhubarb wheat and haskap sour.

Despite the fact that Hochelaga’s neighborhood brewery may feel like a local institution, the beers they make in-house are far from your average dive bar fare.
If you’re a fan of tart beers, L’Espace Public, which has a bar and retail locations across the city, produces approximately 20 distinct varieties, ranging from blueberry guava to creamsicle, as well as about 10 other styles, such as rice lager and farmhouse IPA.
Keep an eye out for the numerous live music performances and art exhibitions that take place throughout the year.
